Privacy Policy

DhammaVahini mobile app

DhammaVahini is a free app for listening to and reading English-language Dhamma (Buddhist teaching) sermons. This page explains, plainly, what happens to your information when you use it. The short version: the app doesn't collect your personal data, doesn't track you, and doesn't show ads.

01

Overview

DhammaVahini lets you browse, search, and listen to audio Dhamma sermons, read about the teachers behind them, save sermons to a personal favourites list, and (soon) watch video sermons. This policy describes how the app handles information across all of those features.

We built DhammaVahini as a straightforward listening and reading app, not a platform that profiles its users. That design choice is reflected directly in what follows — there simply isn't much data-handling to describe, because the app was not built to collect any.

02

Data we don't collect

DhammaVahini has no account system and no server to send your data to. Specifically, the app does not collect:

There is no login, no sign-up, and no user profile of any kind — every feature in the app (browsing sermons, playing audio, saving favourites) works without you ever telling us who you are.

03

Data stored on your device

The only information DhammaVahini keeps is which sermons you've tapped the heart icon on to save to My Favourites. That list is written to your device's local app storage and is never transmitted anywhere.

Your favourites list lives only on your phone. We — the DhammaVahini team — never see it, it isn't backed up to any server we operate, and it's deleted automatically if you uninstall the app.

04

App permissions

DhammaVahini does not request access to your camera, microphone, contacts, photos, location, or any other sensitive device permission. The app plays audio using your device's standard media playback system, which does not require any special permission to be granted.

05

How sermon content is delivered

The audio sermons, Dhamma discussions, teacher photos, and related content you see in the app are bundled inside the app itself rather than streamed from a server. Playing a sermon does not send a request over the internet or report back what you listened to — it plays directly from your device.

06

If you contact us

The app's Contact Us screen shows our email address and phone number so you can reach out through your own email or phone app — DhammaVahini itself doesn't collect or transmit anything when you view that screen. If you choose to email or call us, any information you share (such as your name or the contents of your message) is used solely to respond to you, is handled by the email or phone service you used to contact us, and is never sold or shared with third parties.

07

Third parties & advertising

DhammaVahini does not integrate any advertising networks, analytics services, or third-party trackers. No data from your use of the app is shared with, or sold to, any third party — because none is collected in the first place.

08

Children's privacy

DhammaVahini's content is educational and suitable for a general audience. Since the app does not collect personal information from any user, it does not knowingly collect personal information from children either.

09

Changes to this policy

If DhammaVahini's data practices ever change — for example, if a future version adds an account system or streamed content — we will update this page and revise the effective date above before that change ships.
